Why Titanium Golf Clubs?

So why have Titanium golf clubs become so popular? What's the big deal that has made the marriage between Titanium golf clubs and avid golfers everywhere so harmonious? Well, a quick look at some facts about Titanium will give us some quick answers as well.

Titanium is well known for its excellent resistance (almost as resistant as platinum). A metallic element, it is also well-known for its high strength-to-weight ratio. It is a light, strong metal with low density (40% as dense as steel) that, when pure, is quite ductile, easy to work, lustrous, and metallic-white in color. Titanium is as strong as steel, but 45% lighter; it is 60% heavier than aluminum, but twice as strong. These properties make titanium very resistant to the usual kinds of metal fatigue.

Because of its very high tensile strength (even at high temperatures), light weight, extraordinary corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures, titanium alloys are principally used in aircraft, armor plating, naval ships, spacecraft and missiles. It is used in steel alloys to reduce grain size and as a deoxidizer but in stainless steel it is employed to reduce carbon content. Titanium is often alloyed with aluminium (to refine grain size), vanadium, copper (to harden), iron, manganese, molybdenum and with other metals.

It's vanadium alloy is used to make the outer skin of aircraft, to make fire walls, landing gear, and hydraulic tubing. A typical commercial jet airplane contains 318 to 1134 kg (700 and 2500 lb) of titanium. Use of titanium in consumer products such as golf clubs, bicycles, laboratory equipment, wedding bands, and laptop computers is becoming more common.

So, in a brief nutshell, you can see why titanium golf clubs are now the rage of the golf world. If we were going to use just two words to explain why titanium and golf clubs combine the best of both worlds, they would be lighter and stronger. Obviously, if a titanium clubhead is lighter, we'll be able to swing it faster. And as most of us know, the faster we can swing the clubhead, the farther we can hit the ball. Add to that the incredible strength of titanium, and we discover the key to the popularity of titanium clubs.

Pinemeadow Golf manufactures high quality titanium golf clubs, both woods and irons, at a fraction of the cost of titanium clubs built by brand name manufacturers. Take, for example, Pinemeadow's                                            , priced at $225. Compare these clubs to the Callaway® Hawkeye VFTs at $1300, and you'll begin to see why clone golf clubs make so much sense, and why Pinemeadow sells so many titanium irons.

Of course, by far the most popular of the titanium golf clubs are ther titanium drivers. These lighter and stronger titanium clubheads add up to faster clubhead speeds and longer drives off the tee. Perhaps the most populat titanium driver on the market today is the
Taylor Made® R7, retailing at $799. This is the titanium club with the adjustable tungsten screws that customize ball flight and launch angle options. Compare this club with Pinemeadow's                                               , priced at $99. No matter how you look at it, that's a $700 savings for essentially the same club!
